New York based photographer, Phillip Toledano, created an online exhibition to commemorate the last eight years of American history entitled, “America the Gift Shop”. For anyone that remembers the joys of visiting a national monument on the obligatory school field trip and leaving with a nice plastic, noxious smelling trinket of Americana rather than a real understanding of anything having to do with history, Toledano’s installation will provide the visitor with an easily consumable recap of our recent history.
