We enlisted 30 graphic designers to create a poster that represents a reason to vote for Obama. Starting on the October 5th, we will post a new poster online every day and email it to our list. Recipients can easily share the email with other supporters and friends who are undecided.

Michael Bierut designed a poster for the Democrats’ Artists for Obama initiative that’s unlikely to ever be officially sanctioned. The 40 × 26 inch poster features a new name for each of the fifty states, each set in a bright color in the candidate’s now familiar Gotham typeface. “The poster can be interpreted as both arrogant and silly, and I doubt the campaign is eager to promote either of those characteristics,” concedes Bierut. “Although I think it’s fun.” Evidently others do, too: a print of the poster raised $625 at a silent auction to benefit the AIGA at the organization’s annual Design Legends Gala last month.

A few people have asked whether or not additional copies might be available. Well, they are—for a limited time, in limited quantities, and for the same low price ($625)—with all proceeds all going to Obama for America. To find out how you might get your own autographed (by the designer, not the candidate, sorry!) copy, send an email to obamaposter [at] pentagram.com.

VoteForChange.com, a voter registration program of the Obama campaign, is asking active and creative supporter help spread the word on voter registration through an online submission which can include: make a video, write a song, take a photo, or paint a mural about VoteForChange.com. One of the artists asked to participate is Tristan Easton. Thunderdog has released 1 of 3 Limited Edition silkscreen VoteForChange posters at the Thunderdog Web-Store. 

GOOD is a collaboration of individuals, businesses, and nonprofits pushing the world forward. As they did for the midterm elections of 2006, GOOD Magazine is accepting user submissions for bumper stickers designed to get out the vote.

RISD students Aaron Perry-Zucker and Adam Meyer started a website, designforobama.org, with the intent of helping the Obama campaign through spreading good graphic design at the grassroots level and by making posters available for downloading. Look for their collection to expand rapidly in the coming weeks.

The Obama Campaign is accepting submissions for t-shirt designs in a competition they are calling “Tees For the People, By the People”. Those interested can check out the requirements and entries at www.teesbythepeople.com. If you visit, make sure that cast your vote for the entries. The winner’s t-shirt will be put into production by the campaign but accepted entries will receive a free support pack. Below is my entry into the competition. I will soon add it to the store section of the website. Wish me luck!
